Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about GoVibe Mix. If yours is missing, use the Contact link below.
Is GoVibe Mix really free?
Yes. Every tool is free and you do not need an account.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Audio and video are processed inside your browser and stay on your device. No tool sends your files, or anything else, to another service.
Which browser should I use?
A current version of Chrome or Edge on a computer gives the best results. Firefox and Safari should work for most tools, but the DJ console and recording are tested most on Chromium browsers. Phones can open every page, but the DJ console is designed for a larger screen.
What audio and video files can I load?
Anything your browser can play. That usually means MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG and FLAC for audio, and MP4 or WebM for video. If a file does not open, convert it to MP3 or WAV first.
Does the DJ console work with a real controller?
It supports MIDI controllers in browsers that offer MIDI access, with a learn mode so you can map your own knobs, faders, pads and buttons, including the hold pads for loop rolls. A mapping can be saved to a file and loaded again. It is tested with simulated messages, so a particular device may need a little remapping. You can also use the keyboard. Press the question mark key on the DJ page to see the shortcuts.
How accurate are the BPM and key detection?
They are estimates. Tempo is usually within a fraction of a BPM on clear, steady tracks and can be off on live drummers, tempo changes or very quiet intros. Key detection is less certain than tempo, so trust your ears.
What is stem splitting and how good is it?
It separates a track into drums, bass, vocals and other parts. It is a beta feature that uses signal processing in your browser, not artificial intelligence, so the result is rough. It is useful for practice and rough ideas, not for clean acapellas.
Can I record my DJ mix?
Yes. Press Record on the DJ page. You can save a lossless WAV or a compressed file, and the History tab can build a tracklist with timecodes for the recording.
Where is my library stored? Can I move it?
Your tracks, cue points, ratings, notes and tags are stored in your browser on this device. Use the backup button in the Library to export everything as a file and import it on another computer. Clearing your browser data removes the library, so keep a backup.
Why did my video export take so long?
With Fast export (Chrome or Edge, clips at normal speed) the editor builds each frame itself, which is often quicker than real time, but footage with few keyframes can still be slow to seek. Otherwise it records the preview as it plays, so the export takes about as long as your video. Keep the tab open and visible until it finishes.
Can I use the music I make commercially?
Your own recordings and edits are yours. You are also responsible for having the rights to any music, video or images you load.
Can I convert audio to MP3?
Yes. The Audio converter turns audio into MP3 or WAV in your browser, with a choice of quality, mono or stereo and sample rate. You can convert several files and download them as one ZIP. Nothing is uploaded.
Can I record my voice or make a song with several tracks?
Yes. The Voice recorder captures your microphone in full quality with several takes. The Multitrack Studio lets you put recordings and files on tracks, play keys on a piano roll, program drums, loop a section, mix with volume, pan, mute and solo, add EQ, a compressor, saturation, chorus, delay and reverb to any track or to the master, send tracks to a shared reverb and delay, record your voice or an instrument straight onto a track with a count in and punch in and out, import and export MIDI, add markers, choose a time signature, and export a WAV, an MP3 or one WAV per track with every effect included. The microphone is only used on the recorder page and when you record or test it in the Studio, and only after you allow it. Nothing is uploaded.
What does the Mastering page do?
It measures loudness (LUFS) and true peak the way streaming services do, then raises the level to a target such as 14 LUFS and holds the peaks under a ceiling with a look ahead limiter. You can compare before and after at the same volume and export WAV or MP3. It is a practical finishing tool, not a replacement for a trained ear or a mastering engineer.
Can I use the loops from the Loop maker in my own songs?
Yes. The Loop maker generates every sound in your browser from simple built in instruments, so there are no third party samples involved. Download a loop as WAV or MIDI and use it in your own music. The loops are basic starting points, not finished production sounds.
Is there a desktop app?
There is a desktop version for Windows, macOS and Linux in the desktop folder of the project. It runs the same tools offline in its own window. You build the installer yourself with the steps in its README, and it is unsigned, so your system will show a warning the first time.
Does it work offline?
After your first visit, most pages open without a connection and you can install the site as an app from your browser.
How do I report a problem or ask for a feature?
